Overview – HHRI Infographics

To convey complex information and data, information graphics (infographics) have been developed by HHRI to highlight key data and concepts, using appealing visual story formats to help bridge the gap of educating users. Visual processing can be a faster and more effective way for individuals to ‘absorb’ a vast amount of information when having limited available time.

Iowans’ Views on Medical Errors

Iowans-Views-on-Medical-Errors

This infographic provides some key findings from Iowans’ Views on Medical Errors – Iowa Patient Safety Study©. These findings provide a broad overview of just how prevalent medical errors are in Iowa – nearly one-in-five Iowans report they have personally been involved in a medical error or a medical error has occurred to someone close to them. The implications of this finding are included in this infographic.

Silently Harmed Series

This infographic provides a visual we typically have of our hospitals on the surface, showing much activity and positive contributions to our communities. However, what lurks below the surface may very well be different…and disturbing. Preventable medical errors occur at alarming rates, often without the knowledge of the general public. Patients are seriously and fatally harmed due to medical errors, and the associated cost of these errors has social and economic implications for society.  Learn more about these estimated errors through our infographics and how medical errors may impact seven Midwestern states.

Our Health Care River

This infographic provides the analogy of chemical runoff from farm lands upstream into our streams and rivers downstream. Over time, the river downstream becomes polluted, expensive and difficult to manage. In healthcare, the chemicals upstream primarily consist of two key agents:

1. Fragmented Delivery System
2. Unhealthy Lifestyles
